I want to say sorry for not being active for, well, quite awhile now. My life was turned upside down and I'm finally figuring out which way is up again. Nothing bad happened, rather it was good things, but I haven't had the time to sit and work on anything and once I've been interrupted on a project I rarely go back to it. Things should be stable soon. That is all I really wanted to say. And, thank you for liking my stuff enough to watch me in the first place.

I'm planning a murder mystery dinner and this is our victim. The first of a series of crime scene photos to be provided to the "detective" just haven't decided exactly how he died here.
Its been awhile since I've had time to work on anything... a year actually. I am really happy with how this turned out considering.

From years ago when a friend wanted me to do design for a company we wanted to start. This was our first and last attempt because life has a way of taking us in unpredictable directions.
I read a journal entry today on DA about the myth of talent, and it got me thinking about my own life. Being called "talented" is not always a compliment to me. I know it means "they" thought I did a good job, but it can come across as dismissive. I've actually had arguments with my family started from the simple sentence:  "well your just talented..." (implying that natural talent means I don't know what it means to fail or have to work hard. When I do both quite often.)

But I do know what it means to work hard, I can't remember when I started drawing, I know I hated it in the beginning because I could never get the picture in my head onto the paper. No amount of natural talent can do that. I had to learn how to get the image from my head onto the paper (I have an entire sketchbook of the same dog drawn over and over). And as much as I wanted to figure it out on my own (and alot of it I did) it took a teacher to finally get me started. A teacher who taught me the techniques and gave me the tools to bring that flat image to life. And that is something I still struggle with.

I can do a technical drawing, give me a photo and I can make a close copy. Maybe not with the same insane detail I've seen from other artists, but a decent enough copy anyway. But it always feels flat to me, emotionless. So I have, "technical skill" but I'm not so sure I have "talent". I think the two feed each other, "talent" allows you to pick up the "skill" faster, and "skill" allows "talent" to be revealed.
Maybe I'm wrong, but this is my opinion. I'd like to hear what you think.

I wont call myself an artist, I'm just a girl who likes art. It is something I do for fun.

Came here cuz I saw your comment over on Wolfgard's stuff. Love your work mate! I agree with your journal entry about talent, it seems skill and talent feed each other and help you grow as an artist.
